Millennium Chapter No. 1133

Lodge History

The Chapter was founded for the association of the Brethren, being Past Sovereigns, and Sovereigns who are members of Rose Croix Chapters.

The objectives of the Founders are, to attract and interest Brethren by means of papers and lectures on the history of the Ancient and Accepted Rite and thus augment knowledge of the Order in general and in the District of Somerset and generally to cultivate good fellowship and to promote the “Grand Principles” upon which the Order is founded.

The heraldic emblem adopted by the Chapter is the Wessex Dragon, said to have been the emblem of the West Saxons from the 8th Century.

It is a Dragon, its four legs each complete with claws, a fine pair of ribbed wings, a curled tail, sometimes pointed. He stands erect (rampant) on his hind legs resplendent in heraldic red (gules) and faces left -not making a political statement but simply obeying heraldic rules and carries a Most Wise Sovereign’s Baton

The Chapter was consecrated by The M.P.Bro.Rev.Canon Richard Tydeman 330, Sovereign Grand Commander, at the Masonic Hall, Nailsea, on 26th October, 2000. The then Inspector General for Somerset, V.Ill. Reg Ferm 330, was enthroned as the first Most Wise Sovereign.

There were sixty-two Petitioners, necessitating the use of both sides of the Warrant in order to accommodate their names.

In attendance were Members of Supreme Council, assisting in the Consecration, and Inspectors General from the Districts of: Bristol -Cornwall -Gloucestershire and Herefordshire -London St. James Group, and Suffolk.
