IG David Mason takes over at Millennium Chapter

David Mason the Inspector General of Somerset Rose Croix, took over from Keith Baker as the MWS of Millennium Chapter, in a packed Temple at Nailsea Masonic Hall, with a plethora of other past and current IGs (all 33°) there, from all over the country.

Keith is also the District Recorder for Somerset, so a large number of past and present recorders were also there to make the event even more special!

The meeting started off with a sombre note to mark the Passing of two stalwart members of the Order, Syd Brailey and David Needs, both of whom passed this year. However, whilst always a sad moment, it did not stop the meeting from going well, with Keith and David on their usual fine form!

After all of the Officers were Installed the Chapter received a most interesting and poignant talk from Andy Broad, a former Paratrooper, and staunch Mason, who took part in the Falklands conflict – with a presentation entitled “it was going well until they started shooting at us!” Everyone there really enjoyed it and thanked Andy for his sincere and interesting talk, many of the members learning a lot about the conflict……..Including Paratroopers don’t like ships very much!

The Morning was rounded off with the usual lovely meal provided by Nailsea Masonic Centre.

Somerset Millennium Chapter Rose Croix, like Somerset Masters in the Craft and Calderly Chapter in Royal Arch, is a Chapter for the higher ranking Masons to join, those who are currently MWS or have been MWS and are 30° or higher. However any member of Rose Croix is able to attend as a guest. The Chapter only meets twice a year and the meeting is always very enjoyable, the next meeting is at Yeovil in March 2027.

If you would like more information on becoming a member of Millennium Chapter or indeed a member of the Rose Croix in Somerset, please contact the district Recorder Keith Baker – keithandtrish@uwclub.net
