Clevedon Chapter No. 1167

Warranted 14th October, 2004

Lodge History

Clevedon Chapter Rose Croix was set up with a view to being a day time Chapter to appeal to retired and elderly members who might prefer to meet at that time rather than at night.

A number of Rose Croix members and potential members were known to live in the Clevedon area and it was thought that the Clevedon Masonic Hall would be a suitable location. However, the hall had limitations as to available space to conduct the ceremony which usually requires two rooms.

The situation was overcome by the design of a rotating altar and procedure for converting the temple to enable the ceremony to be conducted in one room and is still in use today. This system was approved by Supreme Council (Who later adopted this system for one of their rooms at Duke Street)

The Chapter celebrated its tenth anniversary meeting on 9th September 2014 with the Grand Prior

M.III bro Rev. Dr. John R. H Railton33 being in attendance.

Over the ten years of its existence the Chapter has maintained an average of 30 members and has a good following of visitors

The Chapter was consecrated on the 24th January 2005.
